A Sunny Day!

Wow, it has been gloomy and rainy for so long I was beginning to wonder if the sun would ever come back out.  Then all of a sudden it did!  Today is a perfect day, sunny and warm.  OMG am I having fun!  I have been out walking and enjoying the spring flowers with my foster mom and playing in the backyard with, well everyone!  I hope it stays like this forever!

Gosh, the world is a big scary place!!!

I admit it, I'm shy.  I am perfectly happy at home with my foster family and when I go out on walks in the neighborhood.   I feel safe and I have a good time.  But, I get a little scared when I go to new places, or to places where there are a lot of people and animals.  I get to worrying what all those people are doing and then I wonder why they're all looking at me.  My foster mom says it's because I'm beautiful, but I'm not so sure.  Sometimes the people come right up to me and want to touch me and give me treats.  If there's just one of them I can be OK with that, but if there's more or if they move quick I just have to bark.  I'm hoping if I make noise, everyone will back up a bit and give me space.  I'm not really trying to scare anyone.   My foster family is working to help me conquer my fear by taking me to friendly new places so I can see that everything is really OK.  Yesterday we went to Pet Food Express.   They have LOTS of treats and toys there!   They also have an interesting smelling cat and lots of nice people who know how to make me feel comfortable.  I had a great time.  We're going back there soon!

Leave it! (Are you guys nuts???????)

Oh my goodness people are weird!  My foster mom thinks I need to know how to leave food on the floor!  Is she nuts??  It's perfectly good stuff, a treat even and I'm not supposed to grab it.  Even though I think it's silly,  I do it because I'm a GOOD dog!  Plus, she always gives me a treat at the end anyway.  :-)

Toys!!!

I love toys!  I like chasing them, chewing them, and playing tug.  Whenever I say hi to someone, I love it if I can have a toy in my mouth at the same time.  The ones with squeekies are the best!   I'm particularly partial to the stuffed ones shaped like squirrels.   I 'm very gentle with those and take them to bed with me and sleep with them a few times before I'll play tug with them with Otter.  Once we play tug, they don't last very long!  It's a good thing my foster mom can sew!

I gots Friends!!

Life is soo much better when you have friends!

They make life interesting when you're bored!

They can hold the other half of the toy when you want to tug.
They can just hang out with you on a rainy afternoon

I guess it's even OK when they hog too much of the chair...

I love having friends.  Will you be my friend?????

Rain, Rain Go Away!

OMG it is so wet outside!  I hate being wet!  When it's rainy outside I don't even want to chase squirrels, and I always want to chase squirrels!  What's a girl to do?  Stay inside and dream of sunnier days with my new forever family of course!

Manners??

Guess what I found out? Apparently to live in a house with other dogs and people you have to behave with something my foster mom calls "good manners".  That means I need to control myself sometimes when I really don't want to.  Like going out the back door to chase squirrels. I really want to jump at the door and push through as soon as its open; after all the squirrels could get away if I'm not fast!   My mom doesn't like that at all.  She says it's rude.  She wants me to wait until she says it's OK to go out, even if the door is open.  It's really hard, but I'm learning!

My first blog!

Hi All,  This blog is chronicling my search for a forever home.  I don't really remember how I became homeless, I just remember suddenly being in a big scary place one day.  They called it a shelter.  It was really noisy and there were lots of other dogs and animals there.  I didn't feel very sheltered, I felt scared!  I really wanted to be out of there, so I just huddled down in the back of my kennel and hoped everyone would go away.  Fortunately for me, I'm a pit bull and there are special people who look out for doggies like us.  A very nice lady on the Bully Crew at OAS spotted me and knew right away that I wouldn't survive long in a shelter, so she scooped me up and took me home with her. (I just LUV her!)  Then she found me a foster family!   My foster family is great too, especially my foster sister Otter.  After I settled in I was able to meet her and we play all the time.  I'm not scared at all now.  I'm busy learning all the things a dog needs to know to score a good forever home.  I'm learning fast too!  Keep your eye on me and I'll show you all my new tricks!
